Ultrasound is a highly traditional and mature discipline and the most widely used imaging modality in medicine. At the same time, innovative research in medical ultrasound is currently at a very active peak, with new products and applications continuously emerging to provide more effective tools for clinical practice. In his lecture, Professor Zheng will first share his insights into the main frontier research areas of ultrasound based on more than 35 years of experience and reflection in the field. He will also share how he and his team moved two innovative medical ultrasound devices from early-stage research to industrialization: three-dimensional ultrasound for radiation-free and accurate assessment of scoliosis, and wireless handheld image-guided ultrasound for quantitative assessment of fatty liver and liver fibrosis. Through these two examples of university technology translation, Professor Zheng will share his experience and lessons learned. He will also discuss the significance of AI for the development of medical ultrasound and his views on the future of ultrasound.
